Steve Woods was born in Ashland, Oregon, on April 4, 1968. He was the fourth of five children born to Glen and Gliela Woods. As a child, his family moved eleven times in his first fifteen years. After living in Puyallup, Washington, down to Redding, California, his family returned to Oregon in 1983.
Over the next twenty-two years, he had six children. The whole time, he continued moving every few years, trying to find a place to call home.
In 2007, while chatting on the Internet, he and Michelle struck up a conversation. Even though they lived more than one hundred miles apart and their jobs kept them from ever meeting, their friendship grew. Finally in 2008, they decided to meet for the first time. Steve and Michelle both arrived at the coffee shop as planned but cupid failed to show. Even with the lack of an instant connection, they continued their friendship. There still wasn’t that instant feeling of love both hoped for, yet they hated to be apart.
In January, with a downturn in the economy, Steve got laid off from his employment. He and Michelle found themselves together nearly everyday. Then on May 18, it happened. Steve called Michelle while walking to get his car from the shop. In that instant something in him changed, and he fell deeply in love with the woman who had become his best friend. No longer able to stand to be apart, they decided to get married. In August, they promised themselves to one another and settled down in Roseburg, Oregon.
For the first time, Steve felt complete and at home. Their love continued to grow by leaps and bounds. Michelle started to laugh and smile constantly, while Steve gained a whole new zest for life. In 2013, while watching the races at the local track, Michelle decided to fulfill a dream for Steve and have a race car built for him. The following year they hit the track. For the two of them it was like being kids again.
Steve was eager to try new things. Then in February 2015, he had the most vivid dream of his life. With encouragement from Michelle, he went to work on his first book, Evolved.
Watching her husband following his dream gave Michelle a courage she had never known, and in May 2015, she too got behind the wheel of a race car.
Each day they wake up grateful for a new day together and anxious to see where each new adventure will take them.
